Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 3, 2026
Blune helps you practice speaking out loud and gives you feedback on how you sound. To do that we record your voice and analyze it. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose.
Who we are
"Blune" ("we", "us") provides the Blune mobile app and this website. If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us at blune.support@gmail.com and we will help.
Information we collect
- Your account. When you first open the app we create an account tied to a randomly generated device identifier, so you do not have to sign up to start practicing. If you choose to sign in with Apple, we also receive the name and email address Apple provides (you can ask Apple to hide your email, and we honor that).
- Your recordings and practice data. When you record a take, we collect the audio, the transcript we generate from it, objective delivery metrics (such as pace, pauses, and filler words), and the written feedback and scores produced for that take. These are stored so you can listen back and see your progress.
- Your setup preferences. The answers you give during setup (what you want to work on, the coaching tone you prefer, how often you plan to practice) and the name you ask Simon to call you. We use these to tailor your feedback and the app experience.
- Subscription information. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive your subscription status (for example, whether your trial or plan is active) so we can unlock premium features. We never see or store your card details.
- Waitlist (website). If you join the waitlist on our website, we store your email address to tell you when the app is available. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Basic technical data. Standard information needed to run a service securely, such as your device type and the timestamps of your requests.
How we use your information
- To transcribe and analyze your recordings and give you feedback.
- To personalize your coaching based on your setup answers.
- To save your history so you can review past takes and track progress.
- To provide and manage your subscription and free trial.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To respond to you when you contact support.
We do not use your recordings or personal data for advertising, and we do not sell your data.
How your recordings are processed
To turn your voice into useful feedback, we send your recording and the text derived from it to a small number of trusted providers that process it on our behalf, only to perform their function for Blune:
- AssemblyAI converts your audio into a transcript (speech to text).
- Google (Gemini API) listens to your audio to assess delivery, such as tone and expressiveness.
- Anthropic (Claude API) receives the transcript and delivery metrics (as text, not your audio) to generate your written feedback.
These providers act as our processors under their API terms and do not use your content to train their models or for their own advertising. We share your content with them solely to provide the feedback you asked for.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:
- With the service providers above, and with our hosting provider, to operate the app.
- With Apple, to process purchases and, if you use it, Sign in with Apple.
- If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and Blune.
- In connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we will let users know.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account and recordings until you delete them or delete your account. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Settings, then Delete account), which permanently removes your account, your recordings, and their transcripts and feedback. You can also email us and we will handle it.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data. Delete individual takes, or delete your whole account, from within the app.
- Access a copy. Email us to request a copy of the data associated with your account.
- Microphone control. Blune only records when you tap to record. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device Settings, though the app needs it to work.
- Regional rights. Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise them.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on our servers and processed in the United States. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it, including encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Children
Blune is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
